November 2018 Newsletter
FROM THE DESK OF DR. MCDANIEL
November is a time for GIVING THANKS!! I am THANKFUL to be a part of the SUNSET community of learners!!! We are continuing our FOCUS on LEARNING throughout this month with many activities for you and your children to be involved!
Today, your child will receive their November Homework Menu. We hope you are encouraging your child to work on this menu daily! There are plenty of activities for them to do that reinforce what we have learned at school. It is due back on November 29th!
Every student has access to an online Reading program called Imagine Language and Literacy that your child can access from home. They can log in through Clever and they should know all of their login information. This is a great learning tool that can be done daily at home before TV or video games!
Thank you, parents, for supporting us in educating your children! As always, you are their first teacher!

DENTAL HEALTH & HULA HOOP ACTIVITIES
This month in PE we will begin our Hula Hoop unit. We will engage in various activities throughout the month that use Hula hoops, thus improving students hand eye coordination, spacial awareness skills, and gross motor development. Students will also be learning various vocabulary words associated with the activities ( halt, commence, construct, transport, and signal). The muscle of the month this month in PE is biceps. In Health students will be learning about dental health. Students will learn how food effects their teeth, the different parts of their teeth, and different types of teeth.
I was thinking how many people love the Fall weather yet have few songs to sing about it. I know when the chill first comes, I admit to humming a few holiday tunes for December but can’t think of many that celebrate Fall or Thanksgiving. Feel free to write me and share your favorite Fall songs–help me out!Michael Relland
Keep our kids reading!Mrs. Hallmark, MLIS
